چکیده

Based on the low-order conforming finite element subspace (Vh, Mh) such as the P1-P0 triangle element or the Q1-P0 quadrilateral element, the locally stabilized finite element method for the Stokes problem with nonlinear slip boundary conditions is investigated in this paper. For this class of nonlinear slip boundary conditions including the subdifferential property, the weak variational formulation associated with the Stokes problem is an variational inequality. Since (Vh, Mh) does not satisfy the discrete inf-sup conditions, a macroelement condition is introduced for constructing the locally stabilized formulation such that the stability of (Vh, Mh) is established. Under these conditions, we obtain the H and L error estimates for the numerical solutions. Mathematics subject classification: 35Q30.

Numerical methods for the Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations driven by threshold slip boundary conditions

In this article, we discuss the numerical solution of the Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations completed by nonlinear slip boundary conditions of friction type in two and three dimensions. To solve the Stokes system, we first reduce the related variational inequality into a saddle point-point problem for a well chosen augmented Lagrangian. To solve this saddle point problem we suggest an alternat...

A spectral mimetic least-squares method for the Stokes equations with no-slip boundary condition

Formulation of locally conservative least-squares finite element methods (LSFEM) for the Stokes equations with the no-slip boundary condition has been a long standing problem. Existing LSFEMs that yield exactly divergence free velocities require nonstandard boundary conditions [3], while methods that admit the no-slip condition satisfy the incompressibility equation only approximately [4, Chapt...

Two-level Penalty Finite Element Methods for Navier-stokes Equations with Nonlinear Slip Boundary Conditions

The two-level penalty finite element methods for Navier-Stokes equations with nonlinear slip boundary conditions are investigated in this paper, whose variational formulation is the Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem of the second kind. The basic idea is to solve the Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem on a coarse mesh with mesh size H in combining with solving a St...

Stabilized finite element method for Navier-Stokes equations with physical boundary conditions

This paper deals with the numerical approximation of the 2D and 3D Navier-Stokes equations, satisfying nonstandard boundary conditions. This lays on the finite element discretisation of the corresponding Stokes problem, which is achieved through a three-fields stabilized mixed formulation. A priori and a posteriori error bounds are established for the nonlinear problem, ascertaining the converg...

On a Finite Element Approximation of the Stokes Problem under Leak or Slip Boundary Conditions of Friction Type

A finite element approximation of the Stokes equations under a certain nonlinear boundary condition, namely, the slip or leak boundary condition of friction type, is considered. We propose an approximate problem formulated by a variational inequality, prove an existence and uniqueness result, present an error estimate, and discuss a numerical realization using an iterative Uzawa-type method. Se...
